A 3D artist named Aleksandr Timoshenko recreated one of the most recognizable WOW WoTLK Classic Gold cities, Thunder Bluff, in an amazing 3D render that gives the place an eerie tonal style. The city has a long and rich history that is rooted in the times in World of Warcraft's Third War, Thunder Bluff ranks among the franchise's most popular capital cities.
Thunder Bluff's geographic features are just as interesting as its story as well. On Kalimdor's continent Kalimdor, Thunder Bluff as it is situated atop bluffs that stand hundreds of feet higher than landscape on which it was settled. The Tauren established the settlement and founded the city following being forced out of their home lands by the marauding Centaurs. Thunder Bluff seems a fitting location for the Tauren however, given its sunny climate that is often represented in-game with warm colors and a distinct sound. What if Thunder Bluff received a makeover but not through some of Blizzard's Classic recreations, but from a fan who brings another perspective to the table?
As discovered by PC Gamer, 3D artist Aleksandr Timoshenko shared a slew of fan-made 3D illustrations on their ArtStation page that present Thunder Bluff quite differently. It's a stunning recreation that includes every single detail that are on display, however Timoshenko's real-world renderings leave out the bright and golden hues that give the capital city its usual warm aesthetic.
Instead of that warmth is something much less abrasive in tone. It seems especially noticeable in the case where Thunder Bluff's iconic style and Timoshenko's 3D renders are placed next to each other in images. As per PC Gamer the 3D artist created their stunning World of Warcraft renders in Epic's Unreal Engine with help from Quixel's Megascans plugin.
The way that different artists interpret the classic designs is always intriguing. The most interesting aspect here is how Timoshenko's real-life reimagining completely alters the tone that is Thunder Bluff. Within the 3D artist's image remains a dark and bleakness that's not found in the World of Warcraft's Thunder Bluff. But both are breathtaking in their own right.
Timoshenko isn't just the one fan with impressive buy WoTLK Classic Gold recreations making the rounds, either. In the last month one Reddit user uploaded images of their Stormwind Harbor construct in Iron Gate's Valheim. And it, too, is an impressive sight.
